Last night was brilliant. Two nights in a row that have been thoroughly enjoyable - life hasn't been this brilliant in ages.
We started with drinks around at the Palace. Duffy, ChrisDay, Louisa, Jojo and Emma all joined us, along with a couple of new faces; Chris' girlfriend Olivia and Jono's old mate Rich King. The early part of the evening saw us cut through the best part of three crates (although I was taking it fairly easy due to a cracking headache) before we got onto the absinthe. I hate the stuff, but we've really got to get through the bottle by the end of the year.
All the usual games came up. Quite a good run of Ping Pang Pong and Ring of Fire produced some funny results and Jono clearly got the full 'birthday experience'.
At this point we decided to give Jono his presents. This comprised of a for her him
foot spa, a Dance with Steps video, a Danny Baker's Greatest Goals video, a happy hardcore CD from 1994 and a set
of fake magnetic diamond earrings. As a final treat Rufio, Swan, Devito and myself had prepared (in the loosest
sense of the word) a rendition of Backstreet Boy's I Want It That Way. The result was incredibly funny to
perform and the audience seemed pretty impressed too. Strangely Simon Cowell hasn't been on the phone to any of us
yet.
Devito was sick in the kitchen sink (appreciating that little trick) and Swan dared him to poke him with a drawing pin, which he did, and Swan started bleeding everywhere. It's it his own damn fault so no sympathy.
We all then went to Echos. They were doing some WKD promo, and I came away with some rather fetching glowing necklaces (partying just like 1992). There was a lot of propping Jono up and continued drinking until Rich and Devito took him home, although Devito made it back straight after.
The end part of the night was probably the most eventful part. Me and Swan spent quite a lot of time wrestling, Benji came and joined in, I watched Scott and Nick (two of my clients) performing an elaborate ballet routine and then we went to Subway where we were served by the most friendly server ever.
On getting home Swan proceeded to start emptying the dregs of the finished cans over my toes as we sat in the lounge. Unfortunately this escalated out of all proportion when I retaliated by emptying a mug of water over his head. He responded by tipping a full glass of Blossom Hill over me, then a full can of Carlsberg. I smelt lovely. The bastard.
I spent this morning erasing the profanities off the kitchen board in expectation of Jono's parent's arriving. The photos from the night paint an interesting picture of life in the Palace. All in all, a super night.
