Two Days In Loughborough
Sunday, October 01, 2006
In an almost exactly mirrored version of last weekend, I simply changed the destination and met up with some Lufbra-types for some Friday night fun. After arriving early afternoon and meeting Jono at the station (he'd brought the car, but it was useless as I inadvertently ended up there at the same time as Swanny so only one of us could get a lift. We walked instead).
After trying to find Mother Nature in Towers, we discovered she was out and instead went with Action Cat, Mike and Lauren to JC's. It was soon decided food was needed so we headed to Lloyd's for food, drinks and a few hours of trying to win some money on the pub quiz machine.
Needless to say, we were all fairly merry by the time we got to Tower's bar, by which time we had been joined by Jono, Sean and Broomy. After saying hello to a lot of old and new faces, we spent the rest of the night in the Union. A good night involving some ridiculously large rounds and exploring the changes to the upstairs bars.
In the morning Swan darted off to play football back in London, I had a shower and then went to town with Sammi for food, and Mike cooked some turkey burgers for his breakfast, which was nice. Everything had to be done quite quickly as I knew I was coming back by train that afternoon, the consequence was a fast lunch to hash out my next travel plans with Sammi followed by a visit to the IDT house to see Tongy, Si and Adam. I'd not been there before but was incredibly impressed.
The house is big for a student house, and as far as I am aware has been in the hands of IDT students for eons; it just gets passed down through the years. Unlike most student houses (for the price) it comes with a full size dining room, lounge, conservatory, roof garden (ish), piano, photocopier, working minicycle, fruit machine and parking for two cars at what is considered a bargain price for Loughborough accommodation. They've done quite well out of it.
From what I managed to work out with Sammi, it looks like my next batch of travelling is likely to involve seeing New Zealand, Fiji and a possibly little more of both Malaysia and Australia. Also later will be the all important trip to South America. Nothing is set in stone, but at least we have some starting points.
Today I'm mostly collating thoughts, clearing my desk up and thinking about what's for lunch.
