Just Beyond The Bridge

Sticky

Today has been brilliant. Although I can't say much has been done in the way of constructive progress, the superb weather merited spending the whole day outside eating strawberries, soaking up the sun, firing up BBQs and socialising with the remaining people of Towers.

I woke late-ish and after a shower, some brunch and applying the final touches to Jo's present, Devito, the Swan and myself went down to West 10 to present it to her. I was really chuffed that she was so genuinely pleased with it - although we haven't seen her as much as we used to (since we finished committee there has been less opportunity to mix with our fellow team members) it's nice to know we are all still such strong friends. This also goes for Waddle whom we more or less spent the whole day with. Being Duffy's 21st it was a cause for celebration, and most of the remaining tower residents piled out onto the grass outside the bar for a day of laziness, kick abouts and time wasting.

Although we had intended on getting our dinner from the bar (pasta probably) it ended up that the BBQ was too stronger temptation and we headed down to Sainsbury's to pick up supplies. After stuffing ourselves, Nick turned up with several dozen crates of Mullerice, which we dutifully accepted and split between us. The fridge on our floor is now packed with 36 pots of yellow rice pudding, and there are another 24 in my room. Either I've got to go on a donation spree or put on considerable amounts of pudding-induced weight in the next five days.

During the day a cool breeze kept the oppressive humidity away, but now the sun has set and a definite stickiness has descended upon the Tower. I have a feeling trying to get to sleep tonight may not be as easy as I would like.

On a more positive note, I'm really getting into the swing of doing nothing. This is what summers are made for...
