French Cricket Shirts Arrive
Tuesday, February 14, 2006

Today has gone half good, half bad (unlike my all-good prediction) and it's only lunchtime.
The French Cricket shirts arrived last night amid a logistics nightmare, and this morning I went to pick mine up and organise the final parts of distribution after my 11am lecture. The first 'good thing' of the day is that it is sunny. The first time in a week, but it really does make me happier. First 'bad thing' of the day. I went outside this morning to get on my bike, only to find it wasn't there. After some fast detective work (I shouted "Whose got my bike?", or something along those lines) I discovered Sean had taken it as he was in a hurry. This was not unexpected even though Sean has a bike of his own. The difference mine has no punctures because I'm willing to pay for them to be repaired, in contrast to Sean, who isn't that bothered about that sort of technicality.
I borrowed Devitos wet-saddled BMX and soggily sat to the lecture while some muscles that don't even exist started to complain wildly. How the hell does anyone ride one of those things? Did the guy putting it together forget to staple the gears to it as well? As an added comical bonus, Devito forgot to tell me the thing doesn't have brakes (or at least ones that work), and I only discovered this as I drove up the trouser leg of the bloke in front of me as I arrived at the James France building. Fun fun.
I swapped bikes with Sean at the rubber crumb and cycled (far more stabilised) to pick up some money and deposit it in the bank. After one or two purchases I came back and did lunch.
The second I picked up my fork (no exaggeration) the phone went, only to drain my spirits with the news that some of the mailout from last night had decided to play up. A very fast jacket potato later and I resent the affected emails. Not happy.
Hopefully the afternoon will be a little more happiness-biased.
