Maybe going out with a cold isn't a good idea. I remember at about three am this morning a
real pain in both sinuses and that was through the alcohol. Not a good thing. This morning I am feeling surprisingly
fresh although piecing together the conversations from last night is a little hard. I know who I spoke to, just not
what about and how long for.
Last night was Lloyds and Echos. It was set to be a disaster before I got out of
the door. Jono called me at about 8.30pm saying the cab was here (we're not that damn stupid in this weather). I
was not ready and hurriedly got dressed. All sense of co-ordination disappeared when I realised I couldn't find a
matching pair of socks, hence a black/blue sock combo. I also forgot my phone, a critical element in speaking to,
well, anyone.
I had a good night. I don't think it started brilliantly, but it did get better. I even got to
add another famous person to my list. Becca from Hollyoaks. God, I'm so A-Class celebrity now. I challenged Spiller
to get her and Becca to go in on a three-way kiss for a fiver, but despite Splidges' usual willingness to take
people up on drunken challenges, she refused. I can't say I'm that surprised.
During the night I also
managed to lift Swan's passport from his back pocket. I had every intention of returning it, but I forgot to and
he's probably around Zoe's stressing about where it is. Actually if you know Swan this is clearly a lie. The last
time he was stressed about anything was when he ran out of beer and didn't want to go out in the cold to pick up
another crate.
Jono was out too, and when we got back we got "all deep and philosophical" until 5am.
I know this means my level of awakeness is only temporary and I'll be asleep again by four.
Sean was out but
elsewhere so we didn't see him. As far as I know Jim was out too. I was worried that if he tried to phone me he
wouldn't be able to get in touch due to my forgetfulness, but when I checked my messages this morning the only
txt/missed call I had was from Gwyz. Nice to know I got sacked off there; they're all like that in bloody
Lichfield.
Today means I need to do some work. DesignWeek is upon me and my output needs to increase, or at
least begin. Come on Higgs, pick up that fineliner, you've got work to do.

Last night was
Swede's birthday celebration; a house party at theirs. There was a good attendance of people still at uni, and
those who have graduated. Dizzy Jo, Greg, Danny, Will, Jess, Rachel all came back and others amongst the present
were Tierney, Ibs, Mike, Sooz, Daisy, Nature, Jo, Emma, Rich King the whole of their house (Irish Johnny, Duffy,
Chris Day) and then me, Jono and Swan. It was busy. There was also a lot of punch, which managed to last longer than
punch usually does, mostly due to the amount of ice that was floating in it.
After a while and Swede getting
birthday bumps (during which he kicked out the ceiling light and we stood in darkness for the next two hours) we
strolled into town and got ourselves out of the cold and into the Rain.
Busy as well, there was no one I knew
in there who hadn't been at the party. The night went on a long time. I dropped one drink and separately using the
power of centrifuge, Chris Day made me part with my pint of Fosters when he picked me up and spun me. I'm not sure
who it hit, but it left my person at speed.
Swan and I left (Mike lying on the bar) at around 2ish and got a
cab back. The rest is alcoholic history.
Tomorrow I've got a meeting with Lianne, Mario, Rosie and Jim about
DesignWeek. Aren't we cool.

Yesterday
marked the beginning of the end of one of my largest and most prestigious projects. Since 2003 I have worked as the
web consultant to British Heart Foundation National Centre and yesterday was the day I was told that the
responsibility was now being transferred to the university as part of a streamlining project. I had been working on
the development of a major overhaul of the website over the past few months, but my schedule doesn't permit large
scale rebuilds until the ends of an academic year (generally) so the account had been put on hold and I spent most
of my time in the past six months updating the existing site. It is a shame for me, as I would really have liked to
have worked further on the next generation, and upgrading the original site to come into line with web standards.
Some of my work will move across, but I am unsure of how much. I have offered my services in the future should they
need them on other projects. It was the first major site project that I undertook while at Loughborough and so
sentimentally will always be important. It is also the first major client I have ever ended the account with, but at
least I have the satisfaction of putting working for the BHF NC on my CV as well as being an employee of the
Loughborough Sports Science department (a coup d'état considering my sporting 'prowess'). The
current project will be tied up in the next two or three months.
Also yesterday heralded one or two other
events. For example, I'm probably getting a new phone. Well in fact, I am. Nick is helping me out and I'm going
to be picking up a Sony W800i, which although
not the newest, is the best I can afford right now. It is quite important in the scheme of things, as I've never
been on contract before, but in retrospect I have been incredibly naive in my choice of pay as you go plan. This
will hopefully be a new departure from ridiculous spending and call-making avoidance. After all, it's good to
talk.
I managed to get an emergency visit to the medical centre last night. Although it wasn't much of an
emergency for me, in order for me to get to see the nurse, I had to be, so I became one. It meant I was able to pick
up a prescription for inhalers and headed back home in order to finish off some work for Echos and
PCdoesIT.
This morning I signed a confidentiality agreement, so I can''t tell you anything about
that.
Tonight is Swede's birthday, so it's a houseparty around theirs. It looks like me, The Swan and
Jono are heading over in ten, so I''m off to get myself sorted. Goodnight.

Yesterday night was a bit of a let down. Infact, considering the build
up I gave it, it was a major disappointment. I had put aside this one day this week when I could go out and still
have time to get on with everything else in life and it turned out that everybody else in Loughborough had had
exactly the same idea.
I went to JC's around 4ish to meet up with Swan, Devito and Sean for a
post-end-of-exams drink. Mike also showed up, and DDS and Dave were knocking about too. Even Broomy made an
appearance not long before Sean and I headed back for food. We already had been on it for a couple of hours and so
in a prime mood to carry on the feeling we cracked open the remainder of the case of beer in the lounge and arranged
to meet Devito and Swan in town in Rain. Well nothing was going to come of it from the outset. The queue was
ridiculous, both deep and wide. Swan took one (very drunken) look at it, turned around and said he was going home.
This was in fact a lie, as ten minutes later we found him in Lloyds with Johnny and Swede. There were a lot of people
out, and admittedly for a while things looked up, but it didn't last.
The night ended with Sean and I going
for a curry at around midnight (yeh, that early) and heading back home with Laura. At least I woke up with a clear
head.
Today was busy. Monday had been filled with odds and ends, but productivity-wise, had been lacking. I
received a bit of knock from a client, and although business is business, I do pride myself on client-developer
trust. I didn't care for it much anyway.
That aside, I could concentrate on other things today. I got into
town for twoish, and met Giles from Echos to discuss a few things regarding their current site, their forums and
their new email campaigns which I've been organising. Quite a long while and a drink later we finished in Lloyds
and I got back home to crack on with some changes. There are still one or two things that need clearing up but at
least it looks like I will meet my deadline of Thursday for all these projects.
One final thing I have to
mention 'in Blog' as Benji puts it, is his
debut appearance in the England University rugby team this Friday. Clearly another famous name to add to my ever
expanding list of sports stars that I've met...
