There are a number of
moments in life summed up by songs. For me, a lot of them are rock. For example the Foos sum up most of my summers -
but as they are my blanket favourite, I can't apply them to any single moment in my life. Bare Naked Ladies'
One Week reminds me of Year 11 and the time spent revising in those early hot summer days. Hanson's
MmmBop reminds me of the first year of secondary school. Cornershop's Brimful of Asha is
associated with my second year and so on. I have many of these songs that carry a reminder of good times, but no
band holds more individual links than the one I went to see for the first time last night. Oasis provided the sound
track to the first years I got in to music, and even before I started to. The indelible mark they left on the 90's
means that songs that were released even before I noticed music are now critical parts of my life
collection.
Champagne Supernova reminds me of the summer of Year 10, Don't Look Back In
Anger was the first song I ever heard played live and by friends. Wonderwall is associated with a very
drunken early morning with many friends from Uni, even if most of these songs were firm favourites of mine before
they acquired there 'moment' as Jojo puts it.
The set last night couldn't have been better. They played
the best of what I was hoping for, and our seats in such a small arena meant a good, clear view of the Gallaghers
who provided some brilliant entertainment in between tracks. Morning Glory, Songbird, Live Forever, The
Masterplan, My Generation... It really made the week for me, Devito, Jojo, Tim, Nature & Ellie.

Today has gone half
good, half bad (unlike my all-good prediction) and it's only lunchtime.
The French Cricket shirts arrived
last night amid a logistics nightmare, and this morning I went to pick mine up and organise the final parts of
distribution after my 11am lecture. The first 'good thing' of the day is that it is sunny. The first time in a
week, but it really does make me happier. First 'bad thing' of the day. I went outside this morning to get on my
bike, only to find it wasn't there. After some fast detective work (I shouted "Whose got my
bike?", or something along those lines) I discovered Sean had taken it as he was in a hurry. This was not
unexpected even though Sean has a bike of his own. The difference mine has no punctures because I'm willing to pay
for them to be repaired, in contrast to Sean, who isn't that bothered about that sort of technicality.
I
borrowed Devitos wet-saddled BMX and soggily sat to the lecture while some muscles that don't even exist started
to complain wildly. How the hell does anyone ride one of those things? Did the guy putting it together forget to
staple the gears to it as well? As an added comical bonus, Devito forgot to tell me the thing doesn't have brakes
(or at least ones that work), and I only discovered this as I drove up the trouser leg of the bloke in front of me
as I arrived at the James France building. Fun fun.
I swapped bikes with Sean at the rubber crumb and cycled
(far more stabilised) to pick up some money and deposit it in the bank. After one or two purchases I came back and
did lunch.
The second I picked up my fork (no exaggeration) the phone went, only to drain my spirits with the
news that some of the mailout from last night had decided to play up. A very fast jacket potato later and I resent
the affected emails. Not happy.
Hopefully the afternoon will be a little more happiness-biased.

Today I busied myself with tidying up the flotsam left by DesignWeek. There have
been many loose ends to tie, especially on the debt collection front and other things to organise, such as French Cricket shirts which finally have turned up, even if I've not
seen them yet.
I've also been helping Guy out with the branding for TeamPinkPanda (sponsor them). They are getting tees done so I provided
a logo and witty slogan. You can vote which one you think is best on their website.
Today was also visit from the The Parents day. I thought that this could be an ideal time
to show them the delights of Lufbra, so started by taking them to Tesco for my weekly shop. Sister Two was also up
too due to half term. We then went to the Toby Carvery for some food and Father explained to me the ins and outs of
my tax return/bracket. Informative.
Nick came over also. We sorted another mailout for StudentXtra. Apparently flyering on campus has finally been quashed (a
victory at last - the amount of paper wasted was ridiculous) so e-flyering it is. All the more work for me.
Apparently things are slow on the phone front at the moment. Hoping to have it soon though.
Andy Ball's website finally came back online after the domain transfer.
I've been waiting all weekend for the server switch and it finally happened. Good job.
Tomorrow I am cycling
about running (?) errands for Devito (taxi booking), collecting and depositing money and then going to see Oasis
(Woo Yay). It's going to be a good day. I can just tell.

Twice out in one week might be
considered a little frivolous for the most part this year, what with all the work that comes my way from the course.
However, two weeks running I have managed FND and a Saturday follow up. Admittedly, I might not have gone out if
Butts hadn't hung around, but it turned out to be an a really good night.
We started drinking late. It was
some weird vodka/cranberry/lemonade concoction that tasted bad, and only got worse the more you drank it. Anyway it
did the trick and we spent an hour or so watching the 100 greatest sexiest moments, which was ideal going-out
fodder. After we caught a cab into town, and took a couple of pints in Lloyds before moving onto Echos.
Giles
sorted me out with a box of twistee shots as soon as I got in the door (cheers mate) and once again I found myself
distributing things for Echos. There were a lot of the usual crew out. After we left we stopped for a moment, and I
got into a conversation with Swede and Chrisday about something that I was hilarious, but unfortunately not
memorable. Our attention soon turned to Chris Jones (Butt's housemate) who was disagreeing with a very angry
copper. I don't know how the altercation started, but Chris was winding the guy up who was physically trying to
'move him along'. Chris was coming out with stuff like "I'm a lawyer; I know my f***ing rights..."
until the policeman quoted "section four, no swearing". Chris quickly quoted "Section Five, no
pushing". He then bent down and spent sometime doing up an imaginary shoelace which only went to annoy his
policeman and the other four who had just turned up. He spent a minute or so assuring them he'd be ready in a
minute, much to their bemusement and level of 'annoyedness'.
After all this food was on my mind, we picked
up a sub and got another cab back home. On realising we had no money to pay, we told the cabby to take us to Tescos
first. I got out to go to the cash point, while Butts and Sean jumped out and did a runner. I therefore had to pay
for it all myself. There are only a few words that I could use to describe them but none of them would be suitable
for under 18s, so I won't write them here.
I managed to upload quite a large batch of photos into my gallery
today. The new ones are mostly filed under 'Lufbra >
Final Year', if you want to check them out.

So things have been a little hectic
around here the past few days. DesignWeek is over, and I was very happy with the work I produced. I'd love to post
some of it up, but I'm still under confidentiality, so you'll just have to miss out on that one. Also I got my
MDP1 mark back, a cool 61, which keeps me on track for my 2:1, but gives me no motivation to build the damn thing
(my treat for semester 2).
Yesterday night we were graced with the presence of Flash and Butts whom we took to
FND with us. It was a social at our house - a crate, two bottles of vodka and silly amounts of sugar free redbull
meant the fact I'd only had an hour's sleep the night previous was fairly inconsequential. The front room is not
in a particularly good state now - the sofa tipping/wine bottle smashing/beer spilling/card distributing nature of
the night means it's probably in the worst condition since we got here.
This morning I was pleasantly
surprised to see a considerable amount of money had been put into my account. Unsure who 'Sa.' was (people owe me
money, but I couldn't work out who this mystery benefactor was) I phoned the bank, who had even less idea than me.
Eventually an internet search came up with some fantastic news - it was overpaid tax being returned. Jackers. I
wasn't expecting that and it made my day.
This afternoon I headed over to Echos to pick up some VIP cards for
the ex-towers committee. All have now been distributed and I can see me reaping the benefits of being the harbinger
of good news tonight.
I am off to see Oasis on Tuesday. Devito has sorted out some tickets and so I decided to
treat myself. I also checked the Foo Fighters site for the new dates, but was gutted to find the only gig is in June
when I'm out the country. I wish the dates were easier; I was already annoyed that I missed Noise and Confusion.
Will there ever be a line up like that again?
Not only am I musically entertained, I'm also hoping to get
along to one or two of the stand up acts hitting Loughborough due to the Leicester comedy festival. Both Sue Perkins
(Late Lunch - Mel & Sue) and Daniel Kitson are playing and both are on my list of 'to see' comics. Shows are
next week so I need to check booking details. Anyone else who wants to go, let me know.
I don't often
advertise stuff as blatantly as this, but as this is for a mate and a very good cause, please make a visit to www.teampinkpanda.co.uk and help Guy try to get to Mongolia in a Pink
Panda. I will be sponsoring them myself and have already agreed to help them with some logo stuff, but they need to
raise some cash. Even if it's only a little it will go a long way (even if the old beat-up Panda doesn't). All
money goes directly to the charity. It's all on the site.

Sorry for the brief break in transmission. I will be back as
soon as I have finished panicking about work...

With DesignWeek leaping into the frame, other things in my life
have to go on hold. This isn't entirely going to plan, but as long as it isn't disastrous I don't mind. Ideally
I want my final concept by tomorrow and to get on with the CAD and presentation boards asap.
The day has been
split between design, phone calls, visiting people, more designing and signing up for tutorials. The last part
probably took the longest, which is why I think I need to prioritise a bit better. The good thing about work at the
moment is that I am inspired. I really want to be doing this project (which I can't tell you about as it is all
under confidence) so motivation isn't too much of a problem. Makes a change when it comes to my course (compared to
normally).
I also stumbled across two new bands today that I'm rather interested in. Plus44 and Angels and
Airwaves - the offspring of Blink-182. Haven't heard any of their stuff yet but I'm looking forward to
it.
It's going to be an early night tonight. I can't keep my eyes open and I need to be up early (when I'm
at my most creative). Goodnight.
